Minelab Launches GPZ 8000: A New Benchmark for Deep Gold Detection

Minelab, a global leader in advanced detection electronics, has officially launched its next-generation flagship gold detector, the GPZ 8000. Debuted in Ballarat, Australia—a historic goldfields region—the new model leads Minelab’s 2026 “Golden Trek” global tour across key prospecting markets including Mariposa (USA) and Cuiabá (Brazil).
Positioned as “Ultimate Depth. Ultimate Control.,” the GPZ 8000 is engineered for professional prospectors working in the world’s most demanding goldfields.
Key advancements include:
- GeoZVT™ technology: building on proven ZVT zero-voltage transmission with advanced real-time ground analysis and signal control, delivering deeper, more stable performance in highly mineralised, conductive and EMI-heavy ground;
- Echo Sonic Pro™ audio: a two-channel stereo system that separates target and ground information into left/right ears, giving experienced users richer, layered cues to identify faint nugget signals;
- Z-Set Concentric Toroidal Coils: the Z18 (18″) for maximum depth in open mineralised ground, the Z17 (17″) for high-EMI and conductive soils, and the Z13 (13″) for vegetation-heavy or complex terrain;
- Ergonomics and runtime: at approx. 2.78 kg (6.1 lb) with the 18″ coil, the GPZ 8000 is lighter than its predecessor; it ships with a PRO-SWING 125 harness, GA10 guide arm, two Li-ion battery packs, audiophile wired headphones, WM 14 low-latency wireless audio module and USB-C charging accessories.
The GPZ 8000 is offered in a Single Coil Pack (Z18) and a 3-Coil Pack (Z13/Z17/Z18).
