There could be various reasons why the EAS anti-theft device in a supermarket does not sound or alarm.
1. Power supply issue
The power indicator light is not on: Check if the power indicator light on the device is on. If it is not on, it may be that the power is not connected or the fuse is damaged. It is necessary to check whether the power plug is properly inserted, whether the power socket is firmly in contact, and whether the fuse is in good condition.
Incorrect input voltage: Check if the input power supply voltage meets the requirements. The input voltage of the supermarket anti-theft device should be AC-24VAC-12V2. If the voltage is too high or too low, it will affect the normal operation of the anti-theft device.
Power connection issues: Check if there is an open circuit or short circuit in the power connection, and whether the external power adapter is working properly. If the adapter is damaged or the wiring is poor, it will cause the supermarket anti-theft device to fail to supply power normally and thus fail to issue an alarm.
2. Equipment connection issues
Poor wiring of alarm lights and buzzers: When the anti-theft device in the supermarket has a sensor but no sound, it is necessary to check whether the wiring of the alarm light and buzzer is good, and whether there is any loosening, falling off or damage. You can unplug the buzzer and then reinsert it. If it still doesn't sound, it might be that the buzzer is damaged and needs to be replaced.
Loose or fallen antenna connection port: Check if the antenna connection port is loose or fallen off. If the antenna is not firmly connected to the mainboard, it will cause poor signal transmission and prevent the anti-theft device from sounding the alarm normally.
3. Environmental interference issues
Interference from surrounding metal objects: If there are large-sized metal objects such as lockers, freezers, and metal cabinets within a close range around the supermarket anti-theft device, they will interfere with it, resulting in a decrease in detection sensitivity or even failure to detect the anti-theft label and thus no alarm. These metal items need to be moved away.
Electrical equipment interference: If there are other high-power electrical devices within 2 meters around, such as currency counters, time clocks, computers, cash registers, rice cookers, etc., especially when these devices form a circular coil, they will cause interference to the anti-theft device. In addition, within a 10-meter radius around the supermarket anti-theft device, there must not be any coiled wires. For instance, the network cables of POS machines should not form loops; otherwise, it will affect the normal operation of the supermarket anti-theft device.
Signal interference: External radio frequency signals and other factors can also interfere with the anti-theft devices in supermarkets, causing them to fail to function properly. If the environmental interference is extremely severe and all the signal indicator lights are on, the system will not be able to operate normally.
4. Problems with the equipment itself
Motherboard failure: If the supermarket anti-theft device still does not sound after eliminating the above problems, it may be that there is a fault with the motherboard, such as the failure or damage of some circuit components, which causes it to be unable to send out the alarm signal normally. Professional personnel need to be contacted for inspection and repair.
Improper sensitivity setting: If the sensitivity setting of the supermarket anti-theft device is too low, it may result in the inability to effectively detect anti-theft labels and thus fail to trigger an alarm. The sensitivity can be appropriately adjusted according to the on-site environment.
Label issue: The anti-theft labels used may have problems, such as being damaged, decoded, or the soft labels being stuck on products with metal packaging. In these cases, the supermarket's anti-theft device will not sound the alarm. It is necessary to check whether the label is intact and whether it is used correctly.
